Autism Awareness – Introductory Course in Cardiff

Overview

This course is appropriate for those who have little knowledge or experience of working with people on the autism spectrum.

Outline Programme

By the end of the course participants:

  • Will have had a brief overview of the history of autism
  • Will have explored current thinking around the causes of ASD
  • Will have an increased understanding of autism and how it can be displayed in different individuals right across the spectrum
  • Will be able to identify the Triad of Impairments and how these areas of difficulty can impact upon people’s lives
  • Will have an increased awareness of how sensory issues can impact upon behaviour
  • Will have looked at some practical strategies that can be effective when working with/supporting people on the autism spectrum

 The course will make use of presentation, group exercises, discussion and videos.
