Overview
This course is appropriate for those who have little knowledge or experience of working with people on the autism spectrum.
Outline Programme
By the end of the course participants:
- Will have had a brief overview of the history of autism
- Will have explored current thinking around the causes of ASD
- Will have an increased understanding of autism and how it can be displayed in different individuals right across the spectrum
- Will be able to identify the Triad of Impairments and how these areas of difficulty can impact upon people’s lives
- Will have an increased awareness of how sensory issues can impact upon behaviour
- Will have looked at some practical strategies that can be effective when working with/supporting people on the autism spectrum
The course will make use of presentation, group exercises, discussion and videos.
