Overview

This programme will determine the principles of good care practice.  It will help employees understand what these principles mean in their day-to-day work

Outline programme

  • Values and Rights: Individuality, Identity, Choice, Respect, Privacy, Dignity and Independence
  • Confidentiality – What is confidentiality?  Why is it important?
  • Relationships – Understand how a relationship with a service user is different from other relationships and     understand the responsibilities and limits of relationships with service users
  • Role of the worker – Understand the workers role in relation to the aims and values of the company
  • Communication – Understand the various ways people communicate
  • Personal Care – The importance of personal care
  • The effect of receiving a service on the service user – self esteem, confidence, self worth and institutionalisation
  • The effect of the service setting on the worker – institutionalisation
